National Gary Theodore Roosevelt Alumni Association, Inc Official Website

Nonprofit 501(c)3

Welcome

Dear Roosevelt High School Alumni
On August 8 2005, we filed as a national organization bringing alumni together with a common goal of supporting our Alma Mater. Also, the Secretary of State of Indiana recognized us as being legally incorporated in Indiana. We were also established as a 501(c)3 organization.

A Historical Heritage to Preserve

Our Team

Our amazing team of Alumni is committed to keeping you informed on issues that concern Roosevelt High School Alumni.

We take pride in our firm belief that this property at 730 W. 25th Avenue, Gary, IN 46407 can be repurposed. We also believe that it can serve the community as well as house a school museum.

Our Founders

In 2005 our school was not maintaining State-mandated performance levels. Dr. Bernard Watson, Ms. Annie F. May and Ms. Eloise Gentry agreed that our Alumni if called upon, would help the school in any way they could, and the National Gary Theodore Roosevelt Alumni Association was organized to reach ALL of our Alumni across the world. Roosevelt has been a dominant force throughout the history of the City of Gary and the National Alumni has helped bring a stronger awareness  to the community.

Our Mission and Purpose

We strive to help build a society that is enriched because of its ethnic and racial diversity. It is our goal to help make our community a better place by sustaining the history of outstanding achievements that bring honor to our city.

Roosevelt’s building was valued at 1.5 million dollars in 1947 and valued more today with its many extensions. In addition, we want to monitor and support the continued use of the facility.  We have partnered with organizations and programs that meet 501(c)3 guidelines. This includes the Gary Educational Development Foundation (GEDF), a nonprofit that continues to help improve the quality of life for graduates of the Gary Public School System, where many of our alumni sponsor scholarships.

Our National Alumni - UPDATE!!!

WE DID IT!

Dear Alumni,

You may or may not have participated in our survey two years ago. The completion of that effort was published in January, "The Gifted Child Today." This educational magazine highlighted a few only Black high schools in America, and Roosevelt is one of them. It also featured HBCUs. We, the national alumni committee, want to get copies and have them available for all alumni to purchase who would want it. We need alumni and other interested people to commit to purchasing a copy before we order. The magazine cost $24.95, we won't know about  S&H until we make our commitment list and place the order. The publisher requires a minimum order of 100 magazines.
Fill out the form BELOW to let us know if you want 1 or more copies of the magazine and your mailing address.
Please.  Contact me with any questions.
